I have spent more than a decade in vocational education, as a trainer, an assessor, and now as National Training Manager at an Australian RTO. Over the last couple of years the same question kept coming up, from trainers and from managers: now that every student and worker uses AI, how do we know the evidence in front of us is really theirs, and how do we assess honestly without pretending AI does not exist?
The common answer is to buy a detector and hope. Detectors do not work, and the regulators now say so. The honest answer is harder. You have to look at how AI is actually changing the work a unit certifies, then decide, part by part, what still has to be shown unaided and where using AI well is the real skill.
Doing that properly for every unit is slow by hand, so I built a research method that does it: it looks up the unit, researches the live Australian landscape against named sources, and makes the call.
